Presentation: "The Decline of Wokeness and the Fight for Free Speech"
By Bishop Ray Taylor, Ph.D.
Introduction: The Woke Movement on the Decline
Good [morning/afternoon/evening],
Today, I address an important cultural and legal turning point in the United States. The once-dominant "woke" movement is losing its grip on society, as more Americans see through its divisive, suppressive, and economically harmful agenda. However, this cultural shift is not inevitable; we must actively ensure that the nails are driven into the coffin of "wokeism."
A central battlefront is the fight for free speech, particularly online. Social media platforms, under the guise of combating "harmful" content, have engaged in practices that not only stifle speech but also violate constitutional principles and fair business practices.
Section 1: The Fall of Wokeism in America
1. Evidence of Decline
Public Sentiment Shifts:
Recent surveys show declining support for woke ideologies, such as cancel culture, identity politics, and radical censorship. Americans increasingly favor dialogue over dogma.

Cultural Pushback:
High-profile figures and communities are rejecting woke rhetoric. Media personalities, comedians, and politicians are calling out the absurdity of censoring dissent or punishing wrongthink.
Economic Consequences:
Companies adopting aggressive woke policies—Bud Light, Target, and Disney—have faced massive financial losses as consumers vote with their wallets.
Section 2: Free Speech Under Attack
1. The Unconstitutional Nature of Censorship
First Amendment Rights:
Social media platforms, though private entities, operate as the modern public square. By censoring political or cultural dissenters, they undermine free speech—a core American value.
Government Collaboration:
Recent investigations reveal government agencies colluding with platforms to suppress certain viewpoints. This represents an egregious breach of the First Amendment.
2. Social Media Demonization of Creators
Unfair Business Practices:
Many creators under platform partnership programs are demonetized without cause. Meanwhile, these platforms continue to run ads on their content, profiting from their labor while denying them fair compensation.
Economic Exploitation:
By demonetizing creators while still reaping ad revenue, these companies engage in exploitative and anti-competitive behavior, which should be deemed unlawful.
3. Case Study: Elon Musk’s Twitter/X
A powerful example of resistance is the transformation of Twitter into X, where Musk has championed free speech. It demonstrates that platforms can succeed without censorship and cancel culture.
Section 3: Call to Action – Putting Nails in the Coffin
1. Legal Protections for Online Speech
Demand Legislative Action:
Congress must pass clear laws that protect online speech, ensuring platforms cannot act as arbiters of truth. Section 230 reforms are necessary to hold platforms accountable.
Enforce Constitutional Standards:
Platforms must operate in a manner consistent with the First Amendment, especially when acting under government influence.
2. Fight Unfair Business Practices
End Demonization:
Platforms under partnership agreements must share revenue equitably or face legal penalties. If they profit from content, the creators must be compensated.
Promote Competition:
Encourage the rise of alternative platforms that prioritize free speech and fair practices.
3. Mobilize Cultural Pushback
Reject Woke Corporations:
Continue to boycott companies that impose woke ideologies or suppress dissenting voices. Support businesses that value diversity of thought.
Engage Locally:
Speak out at local schools, city councils, and community forums to advocate for a return to common sense and free expression.
4. Demand Accountability
Hold platforms like YouTube, Meta, and TikTok accountable through public pressure, legal action, and consumer choice.
The Choice is Ours
America is at a crossroads. Wokeism is retreating, but its defeat is not guaranteed unless we actively drive the nails into its coffin. Free speech is the cornerstone of liberty, and we must defend it both online and offline.
The fight against censorship and unfair business practices is a fight for the soul of our nation. Together, we can restore fairness, freedom, and integrity to our digital and cultural landscapes.
Let us act now, so future generations inherit an America where ideas flourish, dissent is respected, and everyone has an equal voice.
May God save us from oppression, may God keep freedom alive, and powerful is He who conquers darkness!
